Bangladesh Forest Information System (BFIS)
Bangladesh Forest Information system or BFIS is a broad-spectrum usage of information technology to access data and information associated with a significant part of environment and Forest.
BFIS developed for Bangladesh Forest Department under the of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in collaboration with Bangladesh computer council, technical support from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and financial support from USAID and UNREDD Bangladesh National Program. It is a platform to collect forestry related information and presents in an organized manner for effective management to support, targeted users of forest department and beneficiaries like research communities, academicians and other stakeholders.
It is a web-based system to support information-based strategic planning, implementation and monitoring of multi-objective forest related activities from an integrated platform. The BFIS is consist of 20 separate and independent modules and new modules can be added here if necessary. BFIS is built to support digitalization of Bangladesh by enhancing the utilization of innovative technology.
